My ASB has very high withers, and I used a pad made specifically for high withered horses, just put it right on top of his regular pad. National Bridle sells them I believe, if not I know State Line...

National bridle has a pad I like. It is built up a little on the sides were a horse might be thinner- especially as they age. It is called a cush-n-air pad. You can get it in square or round skirt...

One problem I have found with the neoprene pads is they hold in heat really bad, they do not allow the skin to breath. A 100% wool one works much better and they are easy to find with the cut back in...

yeah i was told the solid ones are bad about that. mine is the waffle type with more open space than solid and my mare is barely getting sweaty under it right now. i do have a wool one...but got sick...

Actually the wool isn't as hot as the neoprene, the wool allows the skin to breath, neoprene does not.

I have used them and don't care for them, they still make the skin hot and don't breath as well as wool.
